by Jack Adamo, editor Insiders PlusThe buy signal I got in gold two weeks ago has only gotten stronger with the continued sell-off. Meanwhile, Goldcorp ( GG), is a long-time laggard for us, but I am changing my rating from hold to buy.
My gold market signal is comprised of three elements. One of them is currently the strongest it has been since gold bottomed in the 2008 crash, 245 weeks ago. The second is the strongest it has been it has been in 345 weeks. The third element is in the top 6% of its range since the crash. Goldcorp (GG) is showing signs of life. Earnings were down 10.6% for the full year to $1.95, but Q4 earnings were up 20.5% to a very respectable $0.47/share. Also note that earnings were positive in both years. No big write-offs. EPS were boosted in both years by derivative gains, but even without those, the company earned well. At its current price, the shares are selling at about 17-times trailing earnings. Analysts expect "core" earnings of $2.15 in 2013 and $3.12 in 2014, which would put them 60% higher than 2012, and drop the P/E to 10. In addition, Goldcorp got a new CEO last year who seems focused on efficient operations and rational acquisition policies. The lack of write-downs and write-offs in 2012 may lend testimony to that. Buy Goldcorp up to $38. Learn more about this financial newsletter at Jack Adamo's Insiders Plus.Related articles

Fidelity expert: Bowers' bond bets |
by Jack Bowers, editor Fidelity Monitor & Insight
If you’ve been worried that the bond market might take a big hit, you can relax. Indeed, while bond funds may lag stock funds over the next 5-10 years, they still have a decent shot at keeping up with inflation, and they remain an excellent way to cut risk in a blended portfolio.

by Jim Powell, editor Global Changes & Opportunities Report
With the death of Hugo Chavez in March, and Venezuela’s economic decline, the heavily subsidized oil lifeline is likely to be cut or sharply reduced. I think the resulting energy squeeze will force Cuba to allow greater foreign trade and investment.
