Monday August 06, 2012
by Brien Lundin, editor Gold NewsletterGiven the economic backdrop and seasonal factors, I think both the metals and mining shares should bottom by the second week of August, if they haven’t already. And one low-priced miner to consider is Eurasian Minerals ( EMXX).
Eurasian Minerals has released results from drilling on Sakkek, one of the many prospects within the Kiruna South Designated Project, a shared project with Antofagasta located in Sweden. Kiruna South covers a large area and boasts several copper-gold prospects. Combined with the 126-square-kilometer Norrmyran Designated Project (also in Sweden), the JV partners have no shortage of targets left to explore. Moving to Turkey, home to another swath of properties in Eurasian’s far-flung exploration portfolio, drilling on the company’s Akarca gold-silver project is yielding some encouraging assays. Akarca is being explored via a joint venture with Centerra Gold. Centerra has already earned a 50% interest in the project by completing $5 million in required expenditures. Eurasian will get $1 million in cash from Centerra as part of the earn-in process. Centerra can earn an additional 20% in Akarca by spending another $5 million in exploration costs over the next two years. Eurasian is a very well-run company, with a remarkable pipeline of highly prospective properties. These attributes all alone would make it a buy at its current price, but the latest encouraging results from Turkey give our recommendation a bit of urgency. Fidelity expert: Bowers' bond bets |
by Jack Bowers, editor Fidelity Monitor & Insight
If you’ve been worried that the bond market might take a big hit, you can relax. Indeed, while bond funds may lag stock funds over the next 5-10 years, they still have a decent shot at keeping up with inflation, and they remain an excellent way to cut risk in a blended portfolio.
