A recent buy from Ken Kam -- based on following the top performers among the 60,000 investors who keep virtual portfolios on his Marketocracy site -- is Spherion (NYSE: SFN).
"Spherion Corp. is a small-cap, Florida-based, human resource and employment services company with two business segments: Staffing Services and Professional Services.
“They provide temporary staffing, managed services and permanent placement for clerical, industrial, information technology, finance/accounting, sales/marketing, human resources and administration, legal and engineering fields. SFN’s primary customers range from large conglomerates to small private businesses.
“The Best Investors -- those whose stock picks have performed the best among the 60,000 virtual portfolios we monitor -- started purchasing Spherion Corp. in Aug. ’03 at $7 and they followed the shares up to $10 in July ’04 when they unloaded some of their holdings.
