Gerald Appel is the founder and president of Signalert Corporation, and the president of Appel Asset Corporation, an affiliated company founded by his son Dr. Marvin Appel.

 A professional investment advisor, author, and lecturer, Gerald Appel is widely recognized for his innovative and pioneering stock market trading strategies. 

Along with his son Dr. Marvin Appel he is an editor of Systems & Forecasts, a newsletter he founded in 1973 that is read by money managers, analysts, and private investors around the world. This semi-monthly publication has been recognized on the Forbes Honor Roll.

Gerald Appel is the inventor of MACD, the Moving Average Convergence/Divergence indicator that is widely used in technical analysis software and on financial internet websites.

 He is the author of twelve books on investing and market timing. Two of his books were designated “Investment Book of the Year” by The Stock Trader’s Almanac. His most recent works, published by Prentice Hall, are “Technical Analysis, Power Tools for Active Investors”, “Opportunity Investing”, “Beating the Market, 3 Months at a Time,” and “Win with Proven Stock Selection and Market Timing Strategies.”

 Mr. Appel appeared on Bloomberg TV in December, 2006, giving his observations on the international markets and real estate investments. 

He has written numerous articles for publications such as Stocks & Commodities Magazine, the Journal of Wealth Management, Smart Money, Money Magazine and Barron’s.

In March 2007 he was interviewed for TheStreet.com’s Personal Finance column, discussing diversification strategies.  He has been interviewed by numerous publications over the years including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Futures Magazine, Forbes, The Commodity Trader’s Consumer Report, Timer Digest, and The Hulbert Financial Digest. Mr. Appel has appeared on Wall $treet Week With Louis Rukeyser and has been a guest on numerous financial radio networks.

 Gerald Appel is a former practicing psychoanalyst, and an award-winning photographer.
