Carl DelfeldCarl Delfeld, Forbes Asia columnist and Managing Director of Chartwell Partners, is one of America’s leading experts on global investing and economic, financial and political trends in global and emerging markets. He is also the founder of iGlobalStrategist.com which helps advisors use ETFs to build global portfolios and serves on the advisory committee of San Francisco-based Main Management. Carl’s knowledge of global and emerging markets has been gained as Boston head of Japan/South Korea with Bank of America and Vice President & Director of Asia-Pacific with Robert W. Baird & Company. He was also an international economist to the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, consultant to the U.S. Treasury and represented the U.S. on the executive board of directors of the Asian Development Bank in Manila, Philippines during the administration of George H.W. Bush. From this post, Carl led investment missions throughout Asia including Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Nepal as well as China, Malaysia and Thailand. His new book Red White & Bold: The New American Century emphasizes the need to grow with Asia and offers a refreshing change from the pessimism on America so common in the media today. While the vast majority expect the Chinese economic and market boom to on forever, Carl’s offers a provocative view in his “The Coming China Crisis” published in 2009 by the prestigious International Economy magazine. As someone who studied Japanese at Harvard University and on the ground at Sophia and Keio University in Tokyo, Carl’s views on “Can America Avoid Japan’s Fate?” are full of personal anecdotes and keen insight on why Japan’s market is trading at only 25% of its peak in 1989 and why America needs to heed the lessons learned. His commentary on global and emerging markets has appeared in publications such as Investor’s Business Daily, Forbes, Fox, Fortune, CNBC, Barron’s, the Economist, BusinessWeek and the Asian Wall Street Journal. Carl has spoken to diverse groups such as Fidelity Investments, the World Money Show, World Bank, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Association of Independent Investors, and was chairman of the 2009 Hong Kong Pension Forum. Delfeld is a graduate of the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy with a scholarship from the U.S.-Japan Friendship Committee, studied at Harvard University’s Asia Center as well as at Sophia & Keio University in Tokyo, Japan. Delfeld's iGlobalStrategist plays three roles for financial & investment advisors: part global portfolio manager, part global strategist, and part ETF analyst. Adding these three positions to your payroll is probably out of the question due to cost: around $350,000 a year. iGlobalStrategist is less than 1/10 this cost - just $30,000 a year. iGlobalStrategist advisory services offers you an independent and global perspective, a global country ETF allocation model, risk management advice, and the opportunity to talk things over with founder Carl Delfeld. Carl is also willing to meet with clients and speak at client and prospect events - usually on the topic of opportunities in Asian and emerging markets.
